Do Wigs or Toppers have a name? Who makes them?
Not all wigs and toppers have names. Many pieces are custom-designed to suit my clients' specific needs, and therefore come from my private collection. The manufacturers will be the same trusted brands I've worked with for years. Reordering such items can take 3 to 4 months due to the design process.
Additionally, some pieces will be part of the manufacturer's private collection. These wigs and toppers will only be available at select specialized salons and will not be offered online.
Where were the wigs or toppers made?
Whether European brands or North American brands, the factories are either in Indonesia or Japan. No wigs, not even the European brands are made in Europe. The cost of the labor will be too high.
Some pieces that are made in Europe are only few and the prices of those will be much higher.
Should a synthetic wig be cut to a new style?
Synthetic wigs do not behave like human hair wigs. They do not cut or wear the same as human hair, however, some changes can be made to make it suitable for you.
What if I want shorter length or layers cut into a synthetic wig or topper?
Synthetic wigs are pre-styled & designed to be worn as they are, right out of the box with minimum shaping needed. They should not need much restyling other than shaping around the face, cutting bangs or thinning it out.
Personally, I advise my clients against trying to restyle a wig by cutting off the finished ends. In the long term the wig will thank you for it and so will the client.
"But other places would cut them for me...."
I believe every shop do things differently. If it is an emergency situation and no other wig is available and we must make changes to the style, that would be a different matter.
However, it is important to inform the client that the restyling may not end up being perfect. A lot will depend on the original style and the desired final style.
It is not about making a sale but rather about doing right by the client.
Would wearing a wig damage my natural hair?
Wearing a wig everyday will not prevent your natural strands from growing or stop your hair from thriving, nor will it create hair loss. However, it is important to not ignore your natural hair and keep it clean and conditioned under the wig.
Would Toppers damage my hair?
The simple answer is No. However, you need to learn to properly clip on the hair piece without pulling on your hair.
Toppers unlike extensions sit on the top of the head and it clips into the hair more like anchoring and not weighing on it like an extension would.
What Size Of Base You Need
It is important to ensure that the toppers are clipped outside the perimeter of the thinning area.
The size of the base will depend on how much coverage you need. There are various bases sized available for various stages of hair-loss. If base is too small or too big, it may not be comfortable to wear.
I am worried about bulky hair ....
Depending on the level of your hair-loss, adding additional hair with a topper may feel like suddenly having "too much" hair. At times it may take a few days to get accustomed to the new hair addition.
Trust that we will not let you leave the Boutique unless a hair system looks most natural on you.

Depending on the cap construction, if the cap is too big, we may be able to alter it to ensure proper fit.
These services are ONLY offered for WIGS purchased at Intimate AffHairs. We do not offer to alter, cut or style wigs purchased elsewhere.

Synthetic Wigs & Hair Pieces are different than our natural hair and as such they require specialized care in order to maintain their natural look.
Customization of wigs is important. It is what makes the wig look and feel more natural.

Do you have an old, freezy wig
Synthetic wig will experience fibre friction.
The extent will mostly depend on the length of the wig.
Fibre friction is a natural occurrence that will be caused by natural head movement allowing the fibres to rub together or against fabrics being worn therefore causing frizzy ends tangleing of the fibre.
